  • ​A specially curated programme with relevant tracks to cater to different aspects of our lives namely in areas of relationship, career and life purpose, building resilience, learning and development and communication - each run in the Growthbeans Way.

Finding Our Resilience in Community

How much time do we actually take to care for our inner self? Through an interactive activity, we invite you to come appreciate your own resilience and experience a deeper connection with your fellow participants as you appreciate theirs. After that, we’ll embark on a mystery activity, taking a step back in time to experience the 'gotong royong' spirit that our parents and grandparents practiced when they were living in the kampongs. You’ll discover for yourself the richness of a community in providing us with resources, networks and support in navigating through life.

We all have had that experience of not knowing how to or not wanting to connect with another person. What if we can review the impact of this through the lens of someone with a disability? Might this help us to build better relationships with others who may seem or feel different from us?

​EXPLORING MINDFULNESS TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR MIND-BODY RELATIONSHIP TO BUILD RESILIENCE

Most of us take our body for granted – it can sit, walk, reach for things, etc. – most of us take a lot of our body’s abilities for granted and do not truly appreciate what our bodies can do until we are injured or sick. In this session, explore what it means “being in our body”.  We will put energy into actually experiencing our bodies and be mindful of it without judging it, to help raise our moment by moment in awareness.  And as we do this, sometimes we may find ourselves being flooded with emotions and thoughts.  With constant practice, these practices can help build one’s  resilience, a way of being with our body as it is, a way of being with ourselves as we are in this moment. 

Learning Outcome:
  • Explore what “being in our body” means.
  • Explore up to two powerful mindful practices to  shift our focus to rest our attention in the body, and hence move our mind off thoughts of other things.
