Begin with Ikigai: Reason For Being
We ground this process in Ikigai — a Japanese concept for the space where what a person loves, what they're good at, what the world needs, and what they can be paid for all meet. It gives students a safe, structured place to discover that space for themselves.
How It Works
Four guided stages move students from self-discovery to a real, supported plan of action.
1. Know Yourself
Students map what energises or drains them, and what comes naturally versus what takes real effort; building self-awareness that goes beyond grades and results.
3. See the Whole Picture
A whole-life reflection covering wellbeing, family, learning and friendships helps students honestly see where they are today, and what's standing in the way of what they seek.
2. Define What Matters
Students explore their own definition of success,
looking beyond external measures like grades or
prestige to what's personally meaningful.
4. Take Empowered Action
Students craft a personal Ikigai Statement and
turn it into a real project, with milestones and peer
or mentor support built in.
