Inspire-Tech is a very diverse company with various backgrounds and culture. Most work communication revolves heavily around tasks, creating risks of miscommunications of objectives. Growth Circles have allowed team members to be more aware of differences in experiences and perspectives, and practice better active listening. Beyond just enhancing relationships beyond team members, work communications are also improved and misunderstandings are reduced.

The Growth Collective SG has impacted me by opening my eyes to what a world of inclusivity and compassion looks like by being with like-minded people from all walks of life coming together to form that community. Just from May this year (2023, after completing my Growth Facilitator training which has taught me social skills vital for communication and relationship-building with others), I have seen communities form time and time again, be it through the Growth Circles held publicly or the Growth Facilitators trainings conducted. This has given me hope that together as a community we can co-create the world we want to live in, which is a society that’s inclusive, empowering, psychologically and emotionally safe for all. A place like home. This has now become my family, my tribe. A place where I belong and can contribute in.

Growth Circles will be an accessible platform that can cross inter-generations from youth to elderly. It will help provide avenue for those who harbour negative thoughts and loneliness, where they can be educated on self awareness, healthy mental wellness and resilience. Also it will cultivate stronger ties to the community as they are brought together in a safe environment.

Growth Circles has helped me to genuinely experience what it means by common humanity, and leave each session with greater compassion for self and others. I was pleasantly surprised to see such great programs coming out from ground up efforts. It was out of my expectations on its ability to draw out authentic conversations from people through facilitators modelling vulnerability. One of the best models I have seen thus far in the community, through my 5 years working in the non-profit sector. Despite it not being set up with an intention for it to be a therapeutic group, it unknowingly served as one for some of us, as we connected through shared humanity of suffering, loss and joy. Growth Circle provides a safe space for all to grow as human beings.

I feel that the nation needs to equip more and more citizens with the skills to provide peer support and help one another, so that the health care system can render help to those who need professional care and not be overly stretched. Growth Circles provides a great avenue for people to grow such skills, not only for peer support, but also self-awareness & personal resilience. As both a facilitator and participant, Growth Circles has widened my worldview, enabled me to embrace humanity through a more compassionate lens, given me the opportunity to practice withholding assumptions & judgment, and to learn to listen with the intention to understand, empathize and support.

Growth Circles have made me believe in the value and importance of having conversations. It has helped me grow and be a better pillar of support to family and friends, and by extension, hone my skill set to better support my future clients. The community that Growth Collective SG has grown has always been readily available to provide that safe space and support to me like the countless of people that we have supported, and vice versa. Additionally, through mutually learning from each other, I have learned various ways and styles that I can adopt in my facilitation. My belief is that with Growth Circles being readily accessible in community spaces – it signifies the power of the community, and it becomes a manifestation of community support. I have been with Growth Collective SG since it first piloted back in June 2022, and I can attest the positive outcomes that it brings through it’s well-thought out and intentional structure.

The Growth Collective SG (GC) has been a safe space for me to be my authentic self; a place where I can share my feelings and perspectives without judgement. As a person-in-recovery, being a Growth Facilitator has inspired me to continue on this journey of fostering connection between people, and empowering individuals to care for their well-being. My belief is that the Growth Circles will continue to be a form of community care to compliment professional sources of support, and to provide peer support to those in need.

Being a minority and an older person, Growth Circles has been a very rich and pleasant experience among diverse people who are more open and inclusive, giving me hope for a future Singapore with a more cohesive community spirit. The safe space created and the learning opportunities presented by participating in Growth Circles, both as a circle member and facilitator-in-training, enabled me to surface my challenges and gain fresh perspectives for self-development while cultivating skilful ways of giving support to people around me. Growth Circles and Growth Collective SG is akin to bringing back the kampung spirit where closely knit communities provide for each other’s well-being needs, where people have close friends to rely on, to talk to about their challenges, freely getting the emotional support and scaffolding to weather the storms of life, not letting the impact of such challenges fester unattended.
